Australia has started a pilot program for lodgement online of subclass six-hunderd visas for Indian tourist and business visitors via select travel agents in India. Declaring the same, Minister for Trade and Investment, Australia, Andrew Robb said that India is one of the world’s fastest developing outbound travel markets. This trial would make this easier for Indian visitors to apply for visas to travel to Australia.
As per Australia government’s national tourism target – Tourism 2020 – India has the potential to give around between AUD 1.9 – AUD 2.3 billion per year to Australia’s tourism industry by the year 2020. According to reports, Robb stated that this is why in the first half of this year, the Aussie government is rolling out a trial of online visa applications to capitalize on this rapidly developing visitor market and create jobs. Tourism Australia has declared that Lisa Ronson would be their Australia’s national tourism organization’s new chief marketing officer. The will commence her new responsibility from February 2015.
She would replace Nick Baker, who declared that he would be leave Tourism Australia to look for new goal next year. Lisa joins the organization with around 18 years of experience in marketing, recently as the chief of marketing services at the Westpac.
Lisa Ronson also held senior brand marketing, sponsorship and advertising roles, working throughout a series of diverse industries as well as global brands that includes Telstra, David Jones, Carlton and United Breweries and Visa International.
John O’Sullivan, Tourism Australia’s MD, stated that Lisa Ronson’s work with top brands of both international and domestic scope, coupled with her extensive digital experience, were the significant factors in her appointment. According to reports, he added that tourism is a highly competitive industry across the world, with some hundred and thirty national tourism organizations all competing for the international tourist dollar. He believes that Lisa’s broad marketing experience in non-tourism sectors such as FMCG, Retail and Financial Services would bring fresh ideas as well as help keep them ahead of the pack.
Speaking about outgoing CMO Nick Baker, Tourism Australia’s MD also added that he is sure that Lisa does not need him to say it, but she really needs some big shoes to fill in replacing Nick, who has done a great job in guiding the marketing team at Tourism Australia for the last 7 years.
